Leelanau Township Fire Department is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport department.

ALS units have at least one fully trained Paramedic on board.  All paramedics have a State of Michigan Paramedic license, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and an advanced trauma course.  Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), CPR, and V.A.N. certification, (Advanced stroke training and recognition) is also required.  All Licenses or certifications are renewed every 2 or 3 years respectively.  In addition to medic certifications, all full time Paramedics are cross trained and hold certifications from Michigan Firefighters Training Council (MFFTC) as Firefighters I and II, and Hazardous Materials Operations Level.

LTES donated a box of toys, winter clothing, and $1125 to the" fill the bus" at Northport Public School (December 2021).

Leelanau Township Paramedics are highly skilled in 12 lead EKG interpretations and have the capability to send EKG information directly to the hospital so a physician can see it before the ambulance arrives.  Paramedic skills also include IV placement for fluid and medication administration.  On board Paramedics carry cardiac medications (to slow or speed up your heart rate),  pain medications, and seizure medications.  Leelanau Township Paramedics also have a ventilator/CPAP or Bi PAP that can be utilized when a patient is not breathing or having severe difficulty breathing
