Located on the main street in Northport, next to the post office, our library is the oldest public library in the county. First mention dates back to 1856 in the diary of Rev. George Smith. On May 20, 1968, the current building was opened to the public. Library holdings number approximately 20,000. We issue library borrower’s cards to all residents and visitors free of charge. Welcome!

The mission of the Leelanau Township Library is to provide materials and services that will contribute to the educational, informational, and recreational needs of all the people served. The library promotes its collection and services so the community is aware of library resources and their entitlement to them.
